Horse Transport Services
Equine Ambulance Service
We know how important your horse is to you, and his/her safety and comfort always come first with us.
Our trailers are equipped with cameras so that we can monitor your horse under way, but we physically check on them within the first hour of the trip and at every stop along the way to be sure they are comfortable and that everything is as it should be. We will also stop as necessary to provide any specialized care under the instruction of your veterinarian including monitoring vitals and/or IV fluids.
We can even bring your vet or a technician along with us if needed.
Drivers stay with the horses on ferry crossings – no enjoying the view with that fabulous ferry food for us!
If you need us to wait for your horse(s) while being treated, we will do that as well, including overnighting away from home.
It’s all about doing whatever is necessary to help you help your horse and to give you peace of mind.
On-call 7 days a week.
Certifications - Why Choose Commercial?
Commercial carriers are required to pass a written exam based on the National Safety Code and the Motor Vehicle Act Regulations in order to receive an NSC Safety Certificate. This exam is the same for someone operating a single horse trailer or operating a fleet of big rigs.
Commercial vehicles operating under an NSC number must follow a regular maintenance schedule and be given a safety inspection before each trip. Drivers must provide current driving records and carriers are required to have commercial liability and cargo insurance. Horse Council insurance does not cover someone transporting horses for compensation.
SHARPER EQUINE TRANSPORT is a fully licensed and insured commercial carrier, giving you the peace of mind that your horse is being transported in safety. Each horse in our care is insured for up to $100,000.
Our drivers hold Canadian Livestock Transport certification, so you can rest assured that your horses are being cared for according to nationally regulated standards of care.
Local Transport Service
This is what we do for fun! We love meeting new horses and their owners, and going to new places on the Island. Of course, your horse is given the same care and attention as those travelling for medical purposes.
Even though we’re watching them on camera every kilometre of the way, we always stop within the first hour to physically check on the horse's—or horses’—comfort and well-being… and to give treats, of course. 😉
Because we try to remain available for veterinary transport, we will not pre-book trips off-Island for other purposes. If we have a trailer going to a hospital on the mainland and have space available, we’re happy to take your horse along.
Please contact us for availability.
